Explore musical offerings with award-winning Sheng player Loo Sze Wang.

Loo Sze Wang is the foremost sheng player of his generation in Hong Kong. He has been active both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, having been featured several times at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the contemporary music festival Musicarama and Radio Television Hong Kong. Loo premiered several Sheng concertos like Miroir de Macao by Lam Bun-ching, Hark the Phoenix Soaring High and 'Twas the Thawing Wind by Chan Hing Yan.

In 2009, Loo was the artist-in-residence in the Cornell University and the soloist with Fulcrum point New Music project in Northwestern University. Loo has been appointed to be the Artist Associate of Hong Kong Sinfonietta in 2012, touring North America with the orchestra. His recent performances include participating in the Opera “The Heart of Coral” by Chan Hing Yan in Taipei, Music Theatre “When Petals Fall in Serenity” by Law Wing Fai, the “Anatomy of Musician” project by Samson Young Kai Fai in Paris in 2015 and the new concerto “Hark the Phoenix Solitaire Cry” by Chan Hing Yan with UniMi Orchestra in Milan, Italy under the baton of Yip Wing Sie in 2016. Loo has also performed a Double Concerto with Didgeridoo soloist William Barton with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta under the baton of Luke Dollman in 2024.
